Victim in NW Roanoke fatal shooting identified by authorities

ROANOKE, Va. – According to Roanoke Police, the victim in a shooting that took place early on Sunday morning in the 1900 block of 10th Street NW was identified as 26-year-old Rocky Mount resident Octavius Z. Cooke.

A local business parking lot is where he was discovered.

During the time when officers were responding to this report, they received information that another man who had been shot had driven himself to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

There have been no arrests yet.

A preliminary investigation shows that both victims were involved in the shooting that took place outside the business.
