Mother, who was caught on video repeatedly hitting her infant son and yelling intensely while he lay in the crib, was arrested
Ohio -In a distressing event in Ohio, a mother has been arrested after a video displaying severe child abuse surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice. The video, which quickly went viral, led to the arrest of 21-year-old H. Ryan, who now faces serious charges for endangering her child.
The Sheriff’s Office acted swiftly following multiple complaints and notifications about a troubling video circulating on social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. The one going around on Facebook has since been taken down. The video allegedly shows Ryan engaged in a violent outburst towards her young child. Authorities were alerted to the content, which they described as showing Ryan screaming at and striking her infant son while he lay in a crib.
Chief Deputy M. Haines described the video as “disturbing,” a sentiment echoed throughout the community and beyond as the video garnered thousands of views and shares. “It was one of those things that literally went viral for all the wrong reasons,” Haines stated, noting that calls about the incident came in from as far away as Texas.
In the video, Ryan is seen bent over the crib, yelling intensely at the baby before repeatedly swinging her arm down towards him. The quality of the video makes it difficult to determine the exact nature of the contact with the child, but the implications were enough to prompt immediate action from viewers and authorities alike. According to law enforcement, the father of the child, who was also behind the camera, recorded the unsettling scene. After the mother’s outburst, the video shows him approaching the crib to check on the child.
The incident reportedly took place at the father’s apartment, just days before the video was uploaded online. This small community, has been shaken by the severity of the allegations and the viral nature of the evidence.
Following her arrest, Ryan was booked in jail, with bail set at $25,000. She faces a formal charge of endangering children, with the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues. “We’re trying to decide if anybody else should face charges,” explained Haines, highlighting ongoing considerations over whether others failed to intervene or report the incident promptly.
The immediate concern following the arrest has been the welfare of the child. Authorities confirmed that the child, who is less than a year old, is now safe and under the protection of Children’s Services. This swift action ensures that the child is removed from potential further harm while the legal process unfolds. Ryan is expected to appear in court on August 21, where the details of the case will be further examined, and her legal representation will likely address the charges.
