$1 million winning lottery ticket sold in Marion still unclaimed

Marion, Virginia – Someone in Virginia is walking around with a million-dollar winning lottery ticket and may not even know it yet. The ticket, which matched all six winning numbers in the Virginia Lottery’s Bank a Million game, was sold at Cargo Oil, located at 758 North Main Street in Marion.

Ticket Matches All Six Numbers for Top Prize

The lucky ticket won the top prize in the Saturday, January 17 drawing, and the numbers drawn were 8-15-20-23-27-37, with the Bonus Ball number 19. In this case, the Bonus Ball wasn’t even needed—the ticket matched all six main numbers exactly, which secured the jackpot.

Bank a Million is designed so that the winners receive the advertised prize after all applicable federal and state taxes are withheld. This means the winner will take home a clean $1 million. But to do so, they need to act fast. Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

The Virginia Lottery urges whoever holds the ticket to sign the back immediately to establish ownership. When ready, they should contact the Virginia Lottery to begin the prize claim process.

Retailer Also Celebrates with $10,000 Bonus

While the winner has yet to come forward, Cargo Oil doesn’t leave empty-handed. For selling the winning ticket, the store earns a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.

Bank a Million is a Virginia-only game with drawings every Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 3.8 million, and the odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 18.3.

For one fortunate ticket holder in Virginia, that long shot just paid off—if they realize it in time.
