Overnight ramp closures scheduled on Reston Parkway for bridge repairs over the Dulles Toll Road

Reston, Virginia – Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has scheduled a series of overnight closures for the southbound Reston Parkway (Route 602) ramp to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) beginning Monday night, December 1, and continuing through Monday night, December 8. The closures are required for ongoing repairs to the northbound Reston Parkway bridge over the Dulles Toll Road, which is expected to be completed in early 2026.

VDOT officials have outlined that the nightly closures will begin at 10 p.m. each evening and last until 5 a.m. the following morning. The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Dec. 1 to Tuesday, Dec. 2

  • Tuesday, Dec. 2 to Wednesday, Dec. 3

  • Wednesday, Dec. 3 to Thursday, Dec. 4

  • Thursday, Dec. 4 to Friday, Dec. 5

  • Friday, Dec. 5 to Saturday, Dec. 6

  • Saturday, Dec. 6 to Sunday, Dec. 7

  • Sunday, Dec. 7 to Monday, Dec. 8

  • Monday, Dec. 8 to Tuesday, Dec. 9

Detour Route in Place During Closures

During the nighttime ramp closures, drivers will be detoured via southbound Reston Parkway, Sunrise Valley Drive (Route 5320), and Wiehle Avenue (Route 828), which leads back to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road. The detour is expected to help maintain traffic flow while repairs continue on the bridge above.

Motorists are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during the affected hours and to use caution when driving through the area. VDOT reminds all travelers that this schedule is weather dependent, and any changes will be communicated through official channels.

The bridge repair project is part of a broader effort to maintain and enhance critical transportation infrastructure in Fairfax County. With repairs slated to finish in early 2026, officials aim to ensure long-term safety and reliability of the heavily traveled route connecting Reston and surrounding communities to the Dulles Corridor.
