Hampton Park Boulevard will temporarily close for stormwater drainage and sidewalk improvements in Chesterfield County

Chesterfield County, Virginia – A portion of Hampton Park Boulevard in Chesterfield County is scheduled to be closed for several days next week as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) performs vital stormwater drainage and sidewalk repairs. Weather permitting, the affected stretch of Route 5191, located between Route 5190 (Hampton Park Drive) and Route 5199 (Hampton Summit Lane), will be closed daily from Monday, November 10, through Friday, November 14, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The road closure is part of a routine maintenance operation intended to improve stormwater management and pedestrian safety in the area. While the road will be closed to through traffic during work hours, VDOT has confirmed that “homeowners will maintain access to their property throughout the operation.”

Detour Routes in Place for Northbound and Southbound Travelers

During the closure, motorists will need to follow a clearly posted detour route designed to navigate around the impacted zone. The detour varies depending on travel direction:

  • Northbound Traffic: Drivers traveling north on Hampton Park Boulevard will be rerouted west onto Hampton Park Drive, then south onto Route 667 (Otterdale Road), east onto Route 5245 (Hampton Glen Lane), north on Route 5195 (Hampton Glen Drive), and north on Route 5240 (Hampton Summit Drive), before heading east on Hampton Summit Lane to return to Hampton Park Boulevard.

  • Southbound Traffic: Southbound motorists will follow Hampton Summit Lane westbound, then head south on Hampton Summit Drive, continue south on Hampton Glen Drive, proceed west on Hampton Glen Lane, go north on Otterdale Road, and east on Hampton Park Drive to return to Hampton Park Boulevard.

Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for a few extra minutes of travel time during the scheduled work period.
