VDOT to temporarily close section of Route 605 in Chesterfield County for pipe replacement project

Moseley, Virginia – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a temporary road closure in Chesterfield County as part of an upcoming pipe replacement project. Weather permitting, a section of Route 605 (Moseley Road) between Route 604 (Genito Road) and Route 603 (Skinquarter Road) will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, October 22, and Thursday, October 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

While the closure is necessary to perform the critical infrastructure repair, VDOT has confirmed that “homeowners will maintain access to their property throughout the operation.” This ensures that local residents will not be cut off from their homes during the construction period.

Detour Routes Announced

To maintain safe and efficient traffic flow during the closure, VDOT has posted a detour route for both northbound and southbound drivers:

  • Northbound traffic: From Moseley Road, drivers should turn east on Genito Road, south on Route 667 (Otterdale Road), west on Route 668 (Duval Road), and then west on Skinquarter Road to return to Moseley Road.

  • Southbound traffic: From Moseley Road, drivers should turn east on Skinquarter Road, east on Duval Road, north on Otterdale Road, and then west on Genito Road to return to Moseley Road.

VDOT encourages anyone with questions about the project to contact their Customer Service Center at 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623). Additionally, updated traffic information is always available at 511 Virginia by visiting 511.vdot.virginia.gov or by downloading the free 511 Virginia mobile app.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, use caution while following detour signs, and allow extra travel time during the two-day construction period.
