Travelers on Route 3 should prepare for delays as Robert O Norris Bridge inspection begins
White Stone, Virginia – Drivers who regularly travel along Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties should prepare for temporary delays as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) begins a planned inspection of the Robert O. Norris Bridge.
The inspection process will start on Monday, September 29, and will continue through Friday, October 24, with work taking place on weekdays.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane of the bridge will be closed, and traffic will be directed using automated flagging devices. These devices will be monitored and operated by trained flagging crew members, ensuring that they can respond quickly to traffic congestion or any incidents that arise. All lane closures are weather-dependent, and VDOT urges travelers to plan accordingly.
To stay updated, travelers are encouraged to visit 511.vdot.virginia.gov, use the 511Virginia mobile app, or dial 511 from any phone within Virginia. This will allow motorists to check real-time traffic conditions and plan their trips around the scheduled inspection work.
