Gladstone woman wins $100,000 from scratch ticket bought while on a quick grocery trip

Gladstone, Virginia – What began as a quick errand to a store turned into an unforgettable moment for Melinda Jacques of Gladstone. On her way to the store, Jacques made an unplanned stop at Crossroads Express Mart, located at 2416 Piedmont Road in Gladstone. That’s where she purchased a Virginia Lottery Lincoln scratcher ticket—one that would soon make her $100,000 richer.

The scratcher revealed the top prize in the Lincoln game, making Jacques the third person to claim such a prize in this particular lottery series.

“It feels crazy!” Jacques said to Virginia Lottery officials after confirming her big win. “It doesn’t feel real!”

A Rare Win With Big Odds

The Lincoln scratcher is one of many instant-win games offered by the Virginia Lottery, with prizes ranging from $5 to the top reward of $100,000. With odds of winning the grand prize standing at 1 in 765,000, Jacques beat steep chances. Overall, the odds of winning any prize in the Lincoln game are 1 in 3.9, making it one of the more competitive scratcher options.

As of now, one top prize in the Lincoln game still remains unclaimed.
