Mega Millions ticket worth $2 million sold at Chester Food Mart in Virginia

Chester, Virginia – A Mega Millions ticket purchased in Chester is now worth $2 million, and the Virginia Lottery is waiting for the lucky winner to come forward. The winning ticket was bought at Chester Food Mart, located at 2720 West Hundred Road, and matched five of the six winning numbers drawn on Tuesday, April 29.

The winning numbers for that night’s draw were 16-33-40-51-57, with the Mega Ball number 10. The ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball. Matching those five numbers alone typically earns a $1 million prize. However, this ticket was especially lucky—because of the 2X Multiplier randomly assigned at purchase, the prize was doubled to $2 million.

According to the Virginia Lottery, this was the only ticket in the entire country to match the first five numbers in that draw. No ticket nationwide matched all six numbers, so the Mega Millions jackpot now climbs to an estimated $80 million for the next drawing on Friday, May 2.

Claiming the Prize

Whoever holds the winning ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. The Virginia Lottery strongly urges the winner to take a simple but crucial step: “Before doing anything else, the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership.” Once ready to claim the money, the winner should contact the Virginia Lottery directly to begin the prize collection process.

Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 p.m., and they are streamed live at www.valottery.com. The odds of winning the $1 million prize by matching five numbers are 1 in 12,629,232.
