Drivers advised to expect delays on Bennington Street as survey work causes lane closures

Roanoke, Virginia – Survey work scheduled for Wednesday morning, April 23, is expected to cause traffic disruptions along Bennington Street SE in Roanoke. According to city officials, the inner southbound lane and a portion of the left turn lane approaching Brownlee Avenue SE will be closed during the morning commute as crews conduct survey activities in the area.

Drivers traveling through the area are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes if possible.

The timing of this closure falls in line with Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, offering a critical reminder of safe driving habits in active work areas. Officials are urging drivers to “slow down and use caution in work zones,” emphasizing the importance of staying alert and respecting traffic signage and orange barriers. Motorists are also asked to give workers plenty of room to operate safely.

City staff remind residents to plan ahead and allow extra travel time if commuting through the affected section of Bennington Street on Wednesday morning.
