Chesterfield motorists advised to prepare for temporary detours during VDOT pipe replacement work

Chesterfield, Virginia – Residents in Chesterfield County should prepare for temporary road closures as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) begins essential infrastructure work on Route 2088 (Tall Pine Road). Weather permitting, two portions of the road will be closed on Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3, for a crossline pipe replacement project.

The closures will affect areas near 5400 Tall Pine Road and the intersection of Tall Pine Road and Old Bailey Bridge Road. Crews will be on site each day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to carry out the replacement work. VDOT has emphasized that homeowners along the affected stretch will still be able to access their properties while the project is ongoing.

Detour Information

To ensure smooth traffic flow and minimal disruption, VDOT has established detour routes for both directions:

  • Northbound traffic should travel south on Tall Pine Road, then head north on Old Bailey Bridge Road, continue to Bailey Bridge Road, and finally take Timber Trail Drive westward.

  • Southbound traffic will be rerouted north on Tall Pine Road, east to Timber Trail Drive, south to Bailey Bridge Road, and finally back north on Old Bailey Bridge Road to reconnect with Tall Pine Road.

Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and plan extra travel time to accommodate for the closures.

VDOT is available to answer questions and provide updates through their customer service center. For inquiries, call 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623).

The upcoming pipe replacement is part of VDOT’s commitment to maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure for residents and travelers throughout Chesterfield County.
