Man shot his father’s ex-girlfriend he considered a “sister” in the head while she slept before forcing his friend to finish what he started by putting a gun against his head; sentenced

Ohio – In a harrowing case in Ohio, a 46-year-old man, identified as B. Davis, was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of his father’s 35-year-old ex-girlfriend, identified as A. Slone. The sentencing took place earlier this week, on Tuesday, marking the end of a deeply disturbing chapter for all involved, especially the victim’s family.

The murder, characterized by both cold calculation and brutal violence, occurred in the early hours of June 7, 2024, within the confines of the home Davis and Slone shared. According to the prosecution, the motive stemmed from a tumultuous relationship between Slone and Davis’ father, which had ended shortly before the victim’s death. Davis, consumed by anger, recruited his 59-year-old friend, identified as P. Hart, to assist in what would become a fatal sequence of actions.

On that fateful night, Davis shot Slone once in the head while she slept in bed. Miraculously, she survived the initial attack but was grievously wounded. Demonstrating a chilling disregard for human life, Davis then put a gun against Hart’s head, forcing him to finish what he started. He instructed Hart to “take her downstairs and shut her up.” Fearing for his own life, Hart dragged Slone to the basement, where he executed her with a second gunshot to the head. The aftermath of the crime was grisly. Slone’s body was discovered weeks later on July 1 by her best friend, hidden in a trash can. This disturbing discovery highlighted the severity of the crime and the utter disrespect for life displayed by Davis.

The involvement of Hart, who later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping, was pivotal in the case. His testimony against Davis played a crucial role in the trial, leading to Davis’s conviction on charges of aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and illegal possession of a firearm. The jury, needing less than five hours to deliberate, found Davis guilty of all counts.

During his sentencing, Davis continued to maintain his innocence, claiming he had been falsely accused and slandered. Davis even claimed he considered his father’s ex-girlfriend a “sister.” He suggested that he was a victim of a biased system, and insisted that the evidence showed he did not commit the murder and alleged that it was Hart’s sole doing. However, Prosecutor M. Gmoser described Davis as a “stone-cold killer,” advocating for the maximum sentence to ensure that Davis would “never see the light of day.” Judge K. Heile sentenced Davis to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 44.5 years, plus additional consecutive sentences for firearms violations and being a repeat violent offender. As Davis prepares for an appeal, Hart awaits his sentencing on March 31, which may reflect his cooperation with the prosecution but will also account for his direct role in Slone’s death.

The case leaves a community shaken and a family grieving, as they try to find peace after such a tragic and senseless loss. Slone, remembered for her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to her loved ones, was robbed of her life far too soon.
