Chase City man wins $250,000 in Virginia Lottery’s Print ‘n Play Bingo Multiplier game
Chase City, Virginia – Bruce McCluster of Chase City, Virginia, recently experienced an extraordinary run of luck, turning a series of small wins into a life-changing prize. It all started when his wife gifted him some Virginia Lottery tickets, and his initial win of $46 set off a chain of fortunate events. After redeeming those winnings for more tickets, McCluster won $490. But the biggest surprise came when he redeemed those tickets again and ended up winning the top prize of $250,000.
McCluster initially believed he had won just $25, but when he took a closer look, he realized his good fortune was far greater. “I thought it was just $25,” he told Lottery officials when claiming his prize.
The winning ticket came from Gator’s Highway 92, a store located at 14615 Highway 92 in Chase City. The game that brought him this windfall was the Virginia Lottery’s Print ‘n Play Bingo Multiplier, a popular instant game with odds of winning the top prize set at 1 in 240,000. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 2.96.
Despite his big win, McCluster, who works in construction, has modest plans for his newfound wealth. He mentioned that he intends to use the money primarily to pay off bills, choosing to keep his life as grounded as possible.
In addition to celebrating McCluster’s win, it’s worth noting the broader impact of the Virginia Lottery. All profits from the Lottery are directed to K-12 education in the state. Mecklenburg County, where McCluster purchased his winning ticket, received over $4 million in Lottery funds for its schools in the last fiscal year. Overall, the Virginia Lottery raised more than $934 million for K-12 education in Fiscal Year 2024, which accounts for about 10 percent of the state’s total school budget.
