Accidental fire causes significant damage to a Roanoke residence
Roanoke, Virginia – A residential fire incident that unfolded in Roanoke on Sunday morning has resulted in significant property damage, estimated to be approximately $29,000, as conveyed by Roanoke Fire-EMS.
As per the officials, emergency crews were deployed to the 500 block of Riverland Road SE at precisely 6:54 a.m., following reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, the units were met with a daunting sight of considerable smoke and flames emanating from a two-story residential edifice, as testified by the attending firefighters.
Fortunately, the prompt and proficient response by the firefighters led to the fire being effectively controlled within a mere 20 minutes of their arrival.
Despite the severity of the situation, no severe injuries were reported. Officials stated that two individuals were examined at the scene but did not require any further medical attention. In addition, there were no reports of injuries among the firefighting personnel.
An ensuing investigation carried out by the Fire Marshal’s Office has established that the fire was of an accidental nature. The investigators determined that the mishap resulted from the careless disposal of smoking materials.
