AAUW marks 100 years of supporting women’s education
Roanoke, Virginia – This weekend, a prominent organization marks a century of unwavering commitment to empowering women in their pursuit of higher education and career advancement in the Roanoke Valley.
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) launched its Roanoke Valley Branch in 1923, starting with a small but resolute group of visionaries.
Over the past 100 years, the AAUW has fervently supported educational opportunities for local women by providing scholarships and fellowships to those embarking on college and university programs.
The monumental milestone of a century’s worth of commitment and impact will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13th, at the Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The commemorative event will encompass scholarship presentations, as well as an annual meeting open to both current and former members. Furthermore, the gathering extends a warm invitation to other guests who wish to partake in this momentous occasion and witness the organization’s enduring legacy.
