The national average gasoline price has dropped 7.5 cents per gallon within the last week, reaching $3.50 per gallon today. According to GasBuddy’s data, compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations nationwide, the national average is 7.5 cents lower than last month and 80.7 cents less than a year ago.
Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy, noted that for the third consecutive week, falling gasoline prices have been observed across most of the country. He attributed the decline to stable oil prices and the completed transition to summer gasoline. De Haan also mentioned that the average price of diesel would soon fall below $4 per gallon, reflecting significant progress. With Americans now spending hundreds of millions less on fuel each week compared to last year, De Haan expects prices to continue their downward trend this week.
