It turns out that both shooting incidents that took place in Blacksburg on Saturday were related, local authoirties say
Police in Blacksburg said that the two men who were shot and taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon are friends, and that the two incidents they are looking into seem to be related.
In a press release, Chief Kendrick T. Brewster said that no one had been arrested.
In the first case, at 1:51 p.m. on Saturday, police in Blacksburg found a man with gunshot wounds to his leg and arm on the sidewalk of Bluestone Lane. He was taken to the LewisGale Montgomery Hospital for treatment.
“About an hour later, at 2:58 p.m., while investigating the first incident, Blacksburg police and Blacksburg rescue were called to the 1800 block of Whipple Drive for a second person with gunshot wounds,” the release said.
“The victims are people I know, and it looks like the two incidents are related at this point.”
The second man was also treated at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital, the release said.
Police did not say how the two injured men were doing.
“These incidents do not pose a threat to the community,” police said.
According to the release, the Virginia Tech Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Christiansburg Police Department are all helping with the ongoing investigation.
