Spanish-speaking community health worker, that should be hired soon, to help Spanish speakers in the Martinsville area
MARTINSVILLE, Virginia – United Way of Henry County and Martinsville is hiring a new community health worker to help serve the Hispanic, Latino, and LatinX communities.
The Harvest Foundation just gave the organization $25,000 to help it hire its first community health worker who speaks Spanish.
The worker will help people in the area who speak Spanish find health resources.
“If you see someone who looks like you, talks like you, and has the same interests as you, you can relate to that community better,” said Karen Millner, who is the supervisor of United Way Community Health Workers. “So, we really think that having someone who speaks Spanish move into that community will be able to help.”
They plan to hire the new community health worker who speaks Spanish in the next two weeks.
